TERC Program Documents

The TERC Standard was created using a version of the Greenhouse Gases, Regulated Emissions and Energy Use in Transportation (GREET) Model originally developed by Argonne National Laboratories to examine the life cycle impacts of vehicle technologies, fuels, products, and energy systems.

A feasibility study and pilot application of the TERC Standard was conducted by a team of climate, biofuels, and lifecycle analysis experts from ClimatePal, a voluntary carbon standard and sister organization to the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), an independent multi-stakeholder initiative and leading certification system supporting sustainable, fully traceable, deforestation-free and climate-friendly supply chains.

The TERC Standard will continue to be developed and improved through a multi-stakeholder consensus process focused on clear rules, definitions, and guidelines to create a strong assurance mechanism for brands and consumers who choose to employ the TERC product as part of their sustainability actions.
